WHAT A FABULOUS RESULT!

Despite driving rain and biting winds - a hardy bunch of carol singers toured Castle Bytham village on Monday night (December 12th) to raise funds for St James' Church and between them they collected an astounding £430.

So records were set in both respects - we had more participants than ever and raised more money, what a fantastic result! So I'd very much like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who joined in and everyone who gave so generously... our community spirit is alive and well.

This year we divided into three groups so we could cover even more of the village, including Bytham Heights and Regal Gardens where we were joined by members and friends of the Bytham Guides group (with special thanks to Leslie Sale).

Charlotte and Eamonn at The Castle once again fortified the adults by providing sherry and mince pies before we set off, then Mary Brownlow and Rachael Barratt gave the soggy singers some very welcome respite from the rain mid-way round and plied them with more refreshments. Numerous other people leant their support by printing new carol sheets, lending flasks, collecting buckets, lanterns, and providing a ferry service to Bytham Heights. It was a brilliant group effort on everyone's part - and thanks to you all a very important part of our village will benefit.

We've already set the date for next year - so please make a note in your diaries for Wednesday, December 12th and let's hope for a dry night (weather wise at least).
